In a recent interview, US President Donald Trump conveyed that the ongoing conflict with Iran is “very close” to resolution. This statement follows the US's military actions, including a naval blockade aimed at Iranian ports and coastal zones.
Trump emphasized that the blockade has effectively limited movement in critical Iranian areas, particularly near the Strait of Hormuz, a vital oil shipping route. US officials clarified that this strategy is intended to guarantee safe passage for international vessels while exerting greater pressure on Tehran.
He asserted that the current situation has significantly undermined Iran’s position, predicting that if the US were to withdraw now, Iran would face years of rebuilding its infrastructure and capabilities. Furthermore, he reiterated that preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons remains an essential condition for any potential deal.
Amid rising tensions, Trump suggested a potential resumption of diplomatic engagements, hinting that talks could resume soon in Islamabad. This follows earlier discussions that did not result in any significant breakthroughs. Trump commended Pakistan’s Army Chief, Asim Munir, for his constructive role in mediating dialogue between the two nations.
Since the conflict ignited earlier this year, a combination of military and diplomatic strategies has been employed. Although a formal agreement has not yet been reached, Trump’s latest comments indicate there may still be chances for negotiations to resume and possibly bring an end to the crisis.
However, he stressed that any future agreement must not compromise vital security issues, especially concerning Iran's nuclear ambitions. As worldwide attention remains on this unfolding situation, the forthcoming days could be pivotal in deciding whether diplomacy or further confrontation will dominate the next chapter of US-Iran relations.
