Dubai Advances Smart Cities with InfraX IoT Partnerships

Dubai is taking a significant leap toward its vision of a fully connected, sustainable city with InfraX, the digital arm of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), signing major partnerships with global and regional technology leaders.

At GITEX Global 2025, InfraX entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Itron, a leader in grid-edge intelligence, to jointly develop and deploy next-generation smart utility and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions. The collaboration is aimed at enhancing smart metering, energy management, and citywide digital platforms, enabling utilities and urban systems to operate with greater efficiency, intelligence, and sustainability.

InfraX also partnered with MEA-Comm, a UAE-based system integrator specializing in private wireless networks for industrial IoT applications across the Middle East and Africa. The collaboration will focus on digital twins, edge-enabled architectures, and AI-powered platforms to provide near real-time monitoring, automated decision-making, and resilient operations for complex industrial and urban environments.

These partnerships will leverage InfraX’s robust communication infrastructure alongside Itron’s experience in intelligent energy and water systems. Combined with MEA-Comm’s expertise in private wireless IoT networks, Dubai is set to strengthen its digital infrastructure, supporting data-driven governance, smart city services, and sustainable resource management.

The move signals Dubai’s commitment to innovation-driven growth, where advanced IoT technologies, private networks, and AI integration are central to building a more connected and sustainable urban ecosystem.
