In a major step to improve travel between Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the first commercial flight from Hisar to Ayodhya. This new air route is a big achievement for local air travel and is expected to help the state grow economically.
During his visit to Hisar, PM Modi also laid the foundation stone for a brand-new terminal building at the Maharaja Agrasen Airport. This new terminal will cost over ₹410 crore to build and will include modern passenger facilities, a special area for cargo, and an air traffic control (ATC) building. The work is planned to be finished in the next two years.

PM Modi said that this development is part of his dream to make air travel safer, cheaper, and easier for everyone in the country. He also pointed out how much air travel has grown in India. “Before 2014, India had only 74 airports. Now, there are over 150. Just think—only 74 airports in 70 years! But today, we are setting new records in airline passengers every year,” Modi said while addressing the people in Hisar.
Where is Maharaja Agrasen Airport?
The Maharaja Agrasen Airport is located about 5 kilometers northeast of Hisar city center, along NH-9. It is a key part of Haryana’s bigger plan to improve its infrastructure and connect more places by air.
Airport Construction in Different Phases
The airport is being developed in different steps:
First Phase: A small but modern terminal was built for ₹50 crore.
Second Phase: A long 3,000-meter runway was made. This allows large aircraft like the Airbus, which can carry up to 180 passengers, to take off and land here.
Flight Routes and Schedule from Hisar
Now, flights will run twice a week between Hisar and Ayodhya. In addition, there will be three weekly flights from Hisar to Jammu, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Chandigarh. This will make it much easier for people to travel from Hisar to other major cities.
This new flight and airport development bring great news for the people of Haryana. It will not only save travel time but also open new job and business opportunities for everyone.
