HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer Highlights DEWA's Strategic Collaboration with SAP SE

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the Managing Director & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), recently hosted a distinguished delegation from SAP SE, led by Christian Klein, the CEO and Executive Board member of SAP SE. The meeting was also attended by Marwan Bin Haidar, Executive Vice President of Innovation and The Future at DEWA.

During the discussions, Al Tayer emphasized DEWA's commitment to advancing projects and programs aligned with the UAE Vision 2031. This vision aims to foster an innovative environment while adhering to global standards and promoting pioneering research and development initiatives.

Al Tayer highlighted the significance of initiatives like the UAE Strategy for Artificial Intelligence and the Dubai 10X initiative, spearheaded by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. These initiatives are designed to position Dubai at least a decade ahead of other global cities, leveraging innovation as a cornerstone of development.

The CEO underscored the importance of sharing global best practices and experiences between DEWA and SAP, focusing particularly on innovation, digital transformation, Internet of Things (IoT), big data analysis, and cloud computing. He reiterated DEWA's dedication to supporting the UAE's digital transformation agenda and enhancing Dubai's stature as a leading global digital hub.

A pivotal outcome of this commitment is the establishment of Moro, a vital component of Digital DEWA, aimed at delivering cutting-edge solutions and technologies to various government entities. This initiative aligns with the National Innovation Strategy, initiated by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aimed at positioning the UAE among the world's most innovative nations.

Previously, DEWA had announced a strategic partnership between Moro and SAP to drive efficiencies through intelligent automation of critical processes. These processes are hosted in Moro Hub's state-of-the-art data centers, which comply with the UAE's stringent data residency and cybersecurity standards.

Furthermore, SAP has been instrumental in supporting the development of Moro's green data center, the largest solar-powered facility in the Middle East and Africa, situated at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park in Dubai. This facility is poised to achieve a Tier-III certification from the Uptime Institute, emphasizing its reliability and sustainability credentials.
