Germany Bans Muslim Interaktiv Cracks Down on Extremist Groups

Germany has officially banned the Muslim organisation Muslim Interaktiv, citing threats to the country’s democratic values, constitutional order, and human rights. Authorities also launched investigations and raids against two other Muslim groups, Generation Islam and Reality Islam, across several German states.

The Interior Ministry stated that Muslim Interaktiv promoted antisemitism and discrimination against women and sexual minorities, while advocating for the implementation of Islamic law above German law. The group’s online presence reportedly targeted young Muslims who may feel marginalised in Germany’s predominantly Christian society, using social media platforms to influence and indoctrinate.

German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt emphasised the government’s zero-tolerance approach: “We will respond with the full force of the law to anyone who calls aggressively for a caliphate, incites hatred against Jews, or undermines the rights of women and minorities.” The ministry described the organisation as a threat because it sought to create “permanent enemies of the constitution” and destabilise Germany’s legal and social systems.

Authorities conducted coordinated searches at seven locations in Hamburg, 12 in Berlin, and several in Hesse. The Hamburg interior state minister, Andy Grote, described the ban as a decisive action against “modern TikTok Islamism,” highlighting the group’s use of online content to manipulate youth and spread extremist ideology.

Experts and activists against extremism praised the move. Ahmad Mansour, a prominent critic of Islamist radicalisation in Germany, called the ban “necessary and timely,” noting that Muslim Interaktiv had grown increasingly aggressive, mobilising young people through intimidation campaigns and online propaganda.

The ban reflects Germany’s ongoing efforts to counter extremism, following a series of attacks and plots by both far-right and Islamist groups in recent years. Authorities have stressed that the action is part of a broader commitment to protect democracy, gender equality, and minority rights, while safeguarding society from radical influences.

The organisation’s online platforms were reportedly taken down following the ban, and no representatives of the group were available for comment.
