Guryong Village Fire Forces 47 Residents to Evacuate in Gangnam

On Friday, nearly 300 firefighters were deployed to combat a substantial fire in Guryong Village, a low-income area nestled within Seoul's affluent Gangnam district.

Fortunately, there have been no reported casualties, but as a precaution, 47 residents were evacuated. Approximately 110 individuals reside in the section of the village impacted by the fire.

Fire crews tirelessly worked throughout the day to manage the flames and avert further spread to adjacent homes. An investigation into the fire's cause is currently underway, alongside damage assessment to the affected buildings.

Guryong Village, situated in one of Seoul's wealthiest neighborhoods, houses a low-income demographic in closely-knit homes. The narrow streets and compact structures complicate firefighting efforts.

Emergency responders remain on-site, ensuring that any remaining flames are extinguished and the area is secured. Evacuated residents are being provided temporary shelter and assistance until it is deemed safe to return.
