Dubai, November 17, 2025 — Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, has announced a landmark order for 65 additional Boeing 777-9 aircraft, powered by GE9X engines, valued at $38 billion at list prices. The announcement was made on the opening day of the Dubai Airshow 2025, reinforcing Emirates’ position as the world’s leading operator of the Boeing 777 family and marking a major commitment to global aerospace manufacturing.
The new order boosts Emirates’ total Boeing widebody orderbook to 315 aircraft, including 270 Boeing 777Xs, 10 Boeing 777 freighters, and 35 Boeing 787s. Meanwhile, the airline’s total order for GE9X engines rises to 540 units, including the 130 new engines confirmed today. This massive investment is expected to support hundreds of thousands of high-value aerospace manufacturing jobs in the United States over the lifespan of the programs.
HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group, emphasized the strategic importance of the acquisition: “Each aircraft in our orderbook has been carefully aligned with Emirates’ long-term expansion plan, which complements Dubai’s growth vision. Flying a modern, technologically advanced fleet has always been central to Emirates’ strategy, and we look forward to receiving our first 777-9s from Q2 2027, equipped with state-of-the-art onboard products.”
The agreement also backs Boeing’s feasibility study for the 777-10, a larger variant of the 777X family. Emirates has secured options to convert part of its 777-9 order to either the 777-10 or the 777-8, signaling confidence in the development of larger, more efficient aircraft to meet growing global air traffic and airport constraints.
Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, hailed the renewed partnership: “We are deeply honored that Emirates has chosen the Boeing 777X to power its future. For 40 years, Boeing has supported Emirates in growing its fleet and global network. Today’s order strengthens that partnership and ensures Emirates will fly Boeing airplanes for decades to come.”
Russell Stokes, President & CEO of Commercial Engines & Services for GE Aerospace, also welcomed the order: “We are proud to deepen our partnership with Emirates. Already the world’s largest customer for GE90 and GP7200 engines, this additional GE9X order reflects Emirates’ confidence in our technology and expertise, and we are ready to support their future growth.”
Over its four-decade history, Emirates has operated every model in the Boeing 777 family and currently flies the largest 777 fleet globally, including 119 Boeing 777-300ERs, 10 Boeing 777-200LRs, and 11 freighters, connecting Dubai to more than 140 cities worldwide.
The airline’s extended orderbook means Boeing aircraft deliveries for Emirates will continue up to 2038, providing a long-term stimulus to the US aerospace industry while ensuring Emirates maintains a young, fuel-efficient, and technologically advanced fleet.
The deal highlights the enduring significance of Emirates in shaping global aviation trends, the airline’s commitment to Dubai’s economic growth, and its pivotal role in maintaining strong US-UAE aerospace ties. As Emirates expands its 777X fleet, the airline reinforces its position as a global aviation leader while advancing innovation in air travel efficiency, comfort, and sustainability.
