After Donald Trump’s landslide victory in the U.S. presidential election, a photo shared by his granddaughter, Kai, has caught significant attention due to the unexpected presence of tech mogul Elon Musk. In the photo, Musk, who is holding his son, X Æ A-12, stands at the edge of the Trump family circle. Notably absent in the image is Trump’s wife, Melania.

The billionaire CEO of Tesla and SpaceX has been seen playing an increasingly influential role during Trump’s election campaign, particularly during the celebrations at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Florida, where Musk was frequently seen mingling with guests, often with his four-year-old son on his shoulders.

Musk retweeted the family photo and also shared a picture of himself with Trump and his son, captioning it with the Latin phrase “Novus Ordo Seclorum,” which translates to "a new order of the ages."

Trump’s victory was a decisive one, as he defeated Democratic opponent Kamala Harris by 69 electoral votes. During his victory speech, Trump took the opportunity to publicly thank Musk, calling him a "special guy" and a "super genius." He also fondly referred to him as a “new star” and acknowledged Musk’s significant involvement in the campaign, particularly his two-week stint in Pennsylvania. "Only Elon can do this," Trump said, further expressing admiration for Musk’s unique impact.

Musk, who had offered his endorsement to Trump following an assassination attempt on the latter in July, played an active role in the election cycle. He donated over $100 million to Trump’s re-election campaign, campaigned in crucial swing states, and utilized his social media platform, X, to criticize Trump’s opponents while rallying support for the Republican cause.

In return for Musk’s support, Trump has offered him a prominent role in his administration. The President-elect suggested the creation of a new position titled "government efficiency" and hinted that Musk could take the role of “Secretary of Cost-Cutting,” a position that the tech mogul has expressed interest in.

Musk’s financial backing of Trump is seen by some analysts as part of a broader strategy to shield his companies from government regulation and to secure continued access to vital government subsidies, including those related to electric vehicles and space exploration.

Musk’s influence and involvement in Trump’s campaign underscore the increasingly close relationship between the two, with the billionaire tech mogul now playing a key role in shaping the future of the Trump administration, should it come to fruition.
