The Anaheim Ducks defeated the visiting Boston Bruins 4-3 on Wednesday night in an exciting NHL game. The winning goal came late in the third period when defenseman Ian Moore scored with 3:35 left on the clock. Goalie Lukas Dostal played a key role, making 36 saves to secure the victory for Anaheim.
The Bruins had rallied twice during the match. They came back from 2-0 and 3-1 deficits to tie the score at 3-3. Morgan Geekie scored his second goal of the game at 7:39 of the third period to level the match. However, Moore received a pass from Leo Carlsson in the high slot and scored a slap shot that deflected past Bruins goalie Joonas Korpisalo, giving the Ducks the lead.
In addition to Moore, Jansen Harkins, Radko Gudas, and Ryan Strome also scored for Anaheim. Mason McTavish contributed with two assists. This win marked Anaheim’s second consecutive victory following a three-game losing streak and extended their home winning streak to six games.
Dostal, now with a 10-5-1 record for the season, made 17 saves in the first period alone. For Boston, Geekie had two goals, and Michael Eyssimont added one. Hampus Lindholm contributed two assists, while Korpisalo stopped 29 shots. Despite a higher number of shots (39-33) and scoring two power-play goals, the Bruins fell short. Anaheim managed one power-play goal from three opportunities.
The first period saw Anaheim take an early lead. Harkins scored just 2:29 into the game, slotting a rebound from Nikita Nesterenko’s shot, assisted by Russ Johnston. Four minutes later, Gudas made it 2-0 with a shot from the blue line that deflected off a Bruins defender. Boston responded on a power play with Geekie tipping a shot from Lindholm past Dostal to make it 2-1 by the end of the first period. Dostal also made a critical save on a 2-on-0 rush by Nikita Zadorov in the final minute.
Early in the second period, the Bruins pushed for a goal, but Strome extended Anaheim’s lead to 3-1 with a power-play goal at 13:47. Dostal continued to make key stops, including on Fraser Minten in the final minutes. Eyssimont scored for Boston with 1:33 left in the second, bringing the score to 3-2 heading into the final period.
In the third period, Boston quickly tied the game 3-3 just eight seconds into a power play. Geekie tipped a shot from David Pastrnak past Dostal. Both teams had multiple chances to score, with Dostal and Korpisalo making crucial saves. Ultimately, Moore’s goal became the game-winner, completing a thrilling 4-3 victory for the Ducks.
Anaheim’s strong performance, backed by excellent goaltending and timely goals, allowed the team to secure two consecutive wins, while Boston lost three of its last four games.
