Dubai Press Club Empowers Arab Youth with Podcast Training

The Dubai Press Club has organised the second edition of its special programme called the Arab Podcast Programme. This event is aimed at teaching young Arabs how to create podcasts in Arabic and take their work to the global stage. Podcasts are audio shows people can listen to on their phones or computers anytime they want. This is becoming a popular way to share stories, news, and ideas with people everywhere.

What is the Arab Podcast Programme?

The Arab Podcast Programme is an important initiative started by the Dubai Press Club. The first week of this programme started on July 7. It will run for five weeks. The main purpose is to help Arab youth learn podcasting skills from basic to advanced levels so they can create their own high-quality podcasts.

During these five weeks, participants will be trained by Charbel Issa, who is a certified trainer on Podeo, one of the top podcasting platforms in the Middle East and North Africa. The sessions are designed in such a way that students first learn the fundamental concepts of podcasting and then practice these concepts through hands-on training.

Why is This Programme Important?

This programme is important because it helps young Arabs develop their creative ideas and express them through podcasts. It also helps in spreading Arabic content to global audiences, making sure that Arabic stories, culture, and ideas reach more people around the world.

Maryam Al Mulla, who is the Acting Director of the Dubai Press Club, said that the participants showed a lot of interest and energy during the sessions. They were eager to learn how to make their own podcasts that can compete with others regionally and globally.

She explained, “Podcasting is one of the most engaging forms of media, especially for young people. Through this programme, we want to give Arab youth the chance to share their ideas and voices with the world using modern tools.”

What Did Participants Learn in the First Week?

In the first week, participants learned eight basic modules about podcasting. These modules included:

• Developing a content strategy: Learning how to plan what the podcast will talk about and how to keep the audience interested.

• Podcast branding: Understanding how to create a strong and memorable identity for their podcasts.

• Post-production skills: Learning how to edit the recorded podcasts to make them sound professional.

• Recording quality: Knowing how to record audio clearly without noise.

• Hosting techniques: Learning how to speak confidently and naturally while recording.

• Distributing podcasts on different platforms: Finding out how to upload podcasts to reach more listeners.

• Marketing strategies: Learning how to promote their podcasts and gain more followers.

The young men and women also got to know about global best practices in podcast production. They learned how podcasts are made worldwide and what techniques famous podcasters use to attract listeners.

Training Beyond Theory

The Arab Podcast Programme is not just about theory. It is designed to give practical training so that students can make their own podcast projects with the help of trainers and professionals.

Maryam Al Mulla said, “This programme is not only for learning theories but is rich in practical sessions. Each participant will develop their own podcast with expert guidance.”

• Managing relationships with digital platforms: Understanding how to work with platforms like Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Podeo to publish their shows.

• Producing full podcast episodes: By the end of the programme, each participant will produce a complete podcast episode.

At the end of the event, all podcast episodes made by the participants will be showcased in a special screening. This will give them a chance to present their work and get recognised for their efforts. Their projects will also be evaluated so they know how much they have improved and what else they can work on in the future.
