Dubai’s ‘School of Life’ Transforms Libraries into Creative Hubs

Dubai Public Libraries are no longer just places to read—they have become vibrant hubs of creativity and learning thanks to the ‘School of Life’ initiative by Dubai Culture. Launched in 2022, the program has reimagined library spaces, offering interactive workshops, thematic clubs, and educational sessions designed to nurture skills, imagination, and community engagement.

In the first half of 2025 alone, the initiative delivered over 270 workshops, attracting more than 4,600 participants of all ages. These activities have not only encouraged reading but also strengthened critical thinking, creativity, and curiosity among visitors. From Arabic calligraphy to photography, storytelling to chess, the diverse range of offerings ensures every participant can explore their interests and talents.

The program features curated Reading and Book Clubs that connect members directly with authors, while specialised tracks such as the ‘Professional Impact Track’ prepare youth for the workforce. Innovative streams in French, Science & Technology, and the arts have also helped participants excel internationally, earning recognition at competitions like the Beijing Youth Science Creation event.

By combining education, culture, and technology, the initiative transforms libraries into dynamic community centres where learning is immersive and inclusive. It encourages lifelong skills development while fostering cultural expression in a welcoming environment. With its broad array of workshops and focus on personal growth, the ‘School of Life’ continues to position Dubai as a leader in blending culture with innovative educational experiences.
