Dubai Boosts Film Talent With Global TV Training Programme

The Dubai Films and Games Commission (DFGC), under the Dubai Media Council, has successfully completed a week-long Talent Development Programme aimed at strengthening Dubai’s film and television industry.

The programme was conducted in collaboration with the UK’s National Film and Television School (NFTS) and Prime Video, Amazon’s global streaming platform. It focused on building strong creative talent and encouraging international collaboration in scripted television.

The initiative brought together emerging writers and producers from Dubai and helped them turn original ideas into industry-ready television projects. Participants took part in masterclasses, workshops, one-to-one mentoring sessions, and professional pitching exercises.

The training combined creative storytelling with real-world industry knowledge. Participants learned about story and character development, project packaging, marketing strategies, audience targeting, international commissioning, and co-production models. This helped them prepare professional pitches that meet global industry standards.

Ayesha bin Kalli, Head of Talent Development at DFGC, said the programme reflects Dubai’s commitment to building long-term talent pathways and supporting creatives to succeed internationally. She added that hands-on training and expert mentoring helped participants gain confidence and move their projects forward.

The programme also featured a panel discussion on the future of television series production in the MENA region. Panelists included Marouane Burrour from Prime Video MENA and Turkey, Jonathan Lewsley from Prime Video International Originals, and filmmaker Nawaf Al Janahi.

Through partnerships with leading global institutions and industry experts, the Dubai Films and Games Commission continues to strengthen Dubai’s creative ecosystem and reinforce the city’s position as a global hub for film, television, and content creation.
