The Dubai Chamber of Commerce has just wrapped up a successful trade mission to Maputo, Mozambique, where it organized 356 business-to-business meetings between companies from Dubai and Mozambique. The goal was to create new partnerships and find ways to boost trade and investment between the two countries.
During the mission, the Dubai Chamber also held a special business forum called "Doing Business with Mozambique." This event, which was done in partnership with the UAE Embassy in Maputo, Mozambique’s Ministry of Economy, the Chamber of Commerce of Mozambique, the Agency for Promotion of Investment and Exports (APIEX), and the Consulate General of Mozambique in Dubai, attracted a lot of attention. The forum had 349 participants, including business leaders, senior officials, and local companies, all eager to discuss potential business opportunities with Dubai companies.
In his speech, H.E. Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, explained how important it is for Dubai businesses to explore new opportunities in markets like Mozambique. He said, "We are committed to supporting Dubai-based companies and helping them grow by expanding into promising markets like Mozambique. This helps our private sector become more competitive and supports Dubai’s expanding role in global trade."
In terms of trade, the numbers speak for themselves. Dubai’s non-oil trade with Mozambique grew significantly, reaching AED 4.6 billion in 2024, up by 47% from the previous year, when it stood at AED 3.1 billion. Additionally, by the end of the first quarter of 2025, a total of 89 businesses from Mozambique had registered as active members of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce.
The forum was a great opportunity for Dubai to show off its business-friendly environment, highlighting the advantages Dubai offers for companies based in Mozambique. It also presented many exciting opportunities in Mozambique for Dubai companies looking to expand.
A panel discussion during the forum shared important information about Mozambique's potential for trade and investment. The discussion highlighted sectors in Mozambique that have great potential, such as agribusiness, tourism, hospitality, energy, and wood processing. It also explained how businesses from Dubai can set up and establish partnerships in Mozambique.
Dubai Chamber of Commerce has already identified key sectors for exports from Dubai to Mozambique. These include wheat, cars, cell phones, frozen fish, laboratory equipment, electrical conductors, and textiles. At the same time, they’ve also pinpointed sectors in Mozambique that could attract investment from Dubai, including renewable energy, agribusiness, tourism, packaging, printing, and the wood processing industry.
The trade mission included 19 companies from Dubai, covering a wide range of industries like electronics, trading, energy, retail, and mobility solutions. This mission has created a strong foundation for future trade and investment, paving the way for long-term partnerships between businesses in Dubai and Mozambique.
