As part of the collaboration, IBM Consulting and DMCC will explore a wide range of initiatives aimed at supporting the growth of Dubai’s AI sector. These include creating thought leadership content, organizing educational seminars, industry conferences, hackathons, and offering mentorship opportunities. IBM Consulting joins other key partners such as Builder.ai and AGCC, who provide services ranging from custom software and app development to accelerator and market entry programs.

Through this partnership, the DMCC AI Centre now offers access to AI technologies, custom AI software, mentorship, skills development, networking opportunities, and advanced technologies to enhance productivity and efficiency. The rapid growth of the AI Centre reflects its success in attracting top-tier international talent, with almost 60 companies now part of its ecosystem, marking a 20% increase in just under two months. This expansion emphasizes the Centre’s role as a catalyst for innovation and collaboration within the AI and robotics community.

In October 2024, DMCC hosted its first Global AI Competition – Sustainability Edition, in collaboration with AGCC and Dubai Chamber. The competition, which was the largest at the Expand North Star event, saw three winners present their projects on the Elevate Stage, winning a total of $100,000 in prizes.

Ahmed Hamza, Executive Director – Free Zone at DMCC, emphasized that the goal of the AI Centre is to foster pragmatic AI adoption, creating real-world value across industries. “With AI projected to unlock USD15 trillion by 2030, we are confident that DMCC can play a pivotal role in driving this global economic growth. Our partnership with IBM enhances our ability to attract world-class expertise and deliver value to our members,” Hamza said.

Bill Farrell, Managing Partner for the Middle East and Africa at IBM Consulting, commented, “Dubai presents a unique opportunity for AI innovation. The DMCC AI Centre is a key hotspot for emerging technologies, and we are excited to collaborate with DMCC to advance AI development and adoption globally.”

The AI Centre, which occupies two floors of DMCC’s Uptown Tower headquarters, is part of a broader technology ecosystem that also includes the DMCC Crypto Centre and DMCC Gaming Centre. These world-class facilities offer co-working spaces, meeting rooms, and an exclusive AI solution showroom, all designed to support businesses in scaling operations and fostering the widespread adoption of AI technologies.

With its continued growth and strategic partnerships, the DMCC AI Centre is positioning Dubai as a global leader in advancing AI technologies and driving innovation in various industries.
