The King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah), in partnership with the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh, has organized a special exhibition to honor the 80th anniversary of the historic meeting between King Abdulaziz bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud and U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt. This significant meeting took place on February 14, 1945, aboard the USS Quincy, which was anchored in the Great Bitter Lake along the Suez Canal.

This meeting was a key moment in the history of Saudi-U.S. relations. It laid the foundation for a strong and lasting partnership between the two countries, a bond that has lasted for nearly a century. Over the years, this partnership has expanded into many important areas such as politics, economics, culture, and technology.
The exhibition is being held at the King Abdulaziz Historical Center in Riyadh and will be open to the public until February 17. Visitors will have the chance to see rare documents and old photographs that tell the story of the meeting. These historical items provide a clear picture of the discussions and agreements made during that important event.
The meeting between King Abdulaziz and President Roosevelt was not just a regular diplomatic event. It was a turning point that led to the formal beginning of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and the United States. After this meeting, both countries set up embassies, exchanged diplomats, and began working together more closely. Their relationship has grown stronger over the years, built on shared interests and mutual understanding. Today, it continues to play an important role in promoting peace and stability in the region and around the world.
Through this exhibition, Darah aims to share the story of this historic event with younger generations. The goal is to help people understand how this meeting shaped the strong and friendly ties between Saudi Arabia and the United States. The exhibition serves as a reminder of how cooperation and dialogue can build bridges between nations and create a more peaceful world.
