Dubai’s DAE Leases Two Boeing 737-8 Jets to Somon Air

Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) has signed an agreement to lease two new Boeing 737-8 aircraft to Tajikistan’s national airline, Somon Air. The aircraft are scheduled for delivery in 2026, marking a new partnership between the two companies.

The deal comes as airlines in emerging markets are increasing demand for fuel-efficient narrowbody aircraft to expand their networks and reduce operating costs. The Boeing 737-8 is a modern aircraft known for lower fuel consumption and longer range compared to older models, making it a key choice for fleet modernisation.

Firoz Tarapore, Chief Executive Officer of DAE, said the company is pleased to welcome Somon Air as a new customer. He added that DAE looks forward to supporting the airline’s growth and building a long-term relationship.

Somon Air CEO Abdulkosim Valiev said the new aircraft will help the airline expand its route network, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen its commercial plans. The airline has been steadily growing its regional and international operations with a focus on modern and efficient aircraft.

DAE is one of the world’s largest aircraft leasing companies. It currently owns, manages, or has commitments for around 750 aircraft, including 237 Boeing planes. The company plans to continue expanding its fleet as global airlines prefer leasing modern aircraft instead of buying them directly.
