The Miss Universe 2025 pageant, which is taking place in Thailand, has become the center of a big controversy. Instead of being a celebration of beauty, talent, and culture, the event is now making headlines for public insults, protests, and an apology that many people do not believe was sincere.
The problem began during a sash ceremony where Nawat Itsaragrisil, the Miss Universe Thailand director and event host, spoke harshly to Miss Mexico, Fátima Bosch. In a video that spread quickly online, Nawat can be heard asking Fátima to stand up and then calling her disrespectful names. Many viewers believe he called her a “dumbhead.” When Fátima tried to explain her side, Nawat stopped her and said, “I didn’t give you an opportunity to talk.”
This behavior upset many of the contestants in the room. When Nawat asked for security, as if to remove Fátima from the event, several contestants gasped in shock. As Fátima walked out of the room, most of the other contestants followed her in support. This moment became the main symbol of protest. It showed that the contestants were willing to stand together against disrespect.
Outside the room, Fátima spoke to the media. She said that she respects Thailand and its people, but she cannot accept being insulted in public. Her calm but strong statement received loud applause, and many people online praised her for standing up for her dignity.
When the video of the walkout spread on social media, many people demanded that Nawat should be removed from his position. The situation grew quickly, with fans, past contestants, and several pageant followers calling for fair treatment and professionalism.
In response, Nawat later gave a public apology. He said, with a sad expression, that he did not expect the issue to grow so large. However, many viewers did not believe his words. On social media, people joked that his tears did not look real and that his apology only came after he faced backlash.
Some comments online said things like:
“Are the tears in the room with us?”
“These are the driest tears I have ever seen.”
This shows that people feel the apology was not genuine.
As of now, the Miss Universe Organization has acknowledged the controversy and is trying to calm the situation. Miss Mexico, Fátima Bosch, has returned to the Miss Universe activities, and many contestants continue to support her openly.
This incident has sparked an important conversation about respect, dignity, and how beauty pageants should treat contestants. Beauty pageants often talk about empowerment and confidence. But this event has shown that the real test is how people are treated behind the scenes.
Many viewers believe this moment will be remembered as a turning point. Contestants are not just models. They are women with voices, identities, and self-respect. The support Fátima received shows that women are standing together more than ever before.
The Miss Universe 2025 final event is still ahead, but the drama has already changed the tone of the competition. Now, the world is watching closely—not just for beauty, but for fairness and respect.
