The Chicago Bulls extended their winning streak to three games after defeating the Atlanta Hawks 128-123 in a thrilling NBA matchup on Monday night at the United Center. With this victory, the Bulls maintained their unbeaten record this season, showing improved teamwork and energy on both ends of the court.
Ayo Dosunmu delivered a strong performance for the Bulls, leading the team with 21 points. His aggressive drives and quick scoring helped Chicago stay ahead during key stretches of the game. Dosunmu’s leadership on offense proved crucial in a contest that featured multiple lead changes and intense moments in the closing minutes.
Josh Giddey and Nikola Vucevic played vital roles in the Bulls’ victory, both recording impressive double-doubles. Giddey scored 18 points and collected 13 rebounds, while Vucevic added 17 points, 17 rebounds, and nearly missed a triple-double with nine assists. Their dominance on the boards and playmaking kept the Bulls in control, especially during the second half.
The Atlanta Hawks started the game with great energy, led by Kristaps Porzingis, who scored a game-high 27 points. Jalen Johnson followed with 25 points, and Trae Young contributed 21 points and an impressive 17 assists. The Hawks built an early 13-point lead in the first quarter, taking advantage of fast breaks and open shots. However, their defensive lapses later in the game allowed Chicago to recover.
The Bulls took control in the third quarter, outscoring the Hawks 41-34. Their improved shooting from behind the arc changed the game’s rhythm. After a slow 3-for-18 start from three-point range, the Bulls caught fire late in the second quarter and maintained that rhythm. Patrick Williams and Tre Jones made key three-pointers that helped shift the momentum.
The final minutes of the game were full of tension. Onyeka Okongwu gave Atlanta a one-point lead midway through the fourth quarter with a driving floater. But Chicago responded strongly, with Josh Giddey’s late three-pointer pushing them six points ahead. Despite a strong challenge from the Hawks, Tre Jones sealed the victory with two clutch free throws in the last seconds.
Chicago displayed great depth, with eight players scoring in double figures. Apart from Dosunmu, Giddey, and Vucevic, Matas Buzelis scored 16 points, Kevin Huerter added 15, Tre Jones had 14, Patrick Williams contributed 12, and Isaac Okoro finished with 10. This balance showed the Bulls’ teamwork and adaptability under pressure.
For Atlanta, Porzingis stood out, shooting 11-for-17 from the field after returning from illness. Okongwu added 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Nickeil Alexander-Walker scored 17. The Hawks played with intensity but failed to stop Chicago’s late surge. Their defense struggled to contain the Bulls’ ball movement and second-chance points.
Head coach Billy Donovan praised his team’s composure and collective effort after the game. The Bulls’ improved shooting and defensive adjustments in the second half reflected their growing confidence and chemistry. With this victory, Chicago’s focus now shifts to maintaining consistency as the season progresses.
The Bulls’ next challenge will test their endurance as they continue their homestand. Meanwhile, the Hawks will aim to regroup after two straight losses, hoping to regain their rhythm and strengthen their defense in upcoming fixtures.
