A Carnival Cruise Line ship experienced a dramatic moment when it struck a piece of ice in Alaska, drawing comparisons to the "modern Titanic moment." The incident occurred last Thursday while the vessel was navigating through Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska. The company confirmed that the ship, which was en route to Skagway, Alaska, encountered an errant iceberg but sustained no damage.

According to a statement from the cruise line, after assessing the impact of the collision, it was determined that the ship remained undamaged and continued its journey as scheduled. The cruise line reassured passengers and the public that the vessel’s operations were not affected by the incident.

Passenger April Futrell recounted her experience, posting pictures of the cruise ship and the piece of ice it struck, stating, “Good evening James! We are on the Carnival Spirit and hit an iceberg just outside of Sitka and Tracy Arm Fjord! Here’s some pictures! We are safe and after assessing for damage, we are back on track headed to Skagway!”

Despite the excitement and concern, the cruise continued without delay. The ship is on a seven-day voyage, with its final destination set for Seattle, Washington, and is scheduled to arrive on Tuesday. The cruise line emphasized that the incident had no impact on the overall operations of the trip.

In a separate event, another Carnival ship, the Carnival Vista, faced its own challenge recently when it had to reroute its Caribbean trip due to an engine issue.
