After facing scrutiny over his mental and physical capabilities during his recent visit to France alongside First Lady Jill Biden, U.S. President Joe Biden finds himself once again under the spotlight for his latest public appearance.
During a lively Juneteenth musical celebration at the White House's South Lawn, where attendees, including Vice President Kamala Harris, engaged in singing and dancing, the 81-year-old President drew criticism for standing motionless for over a minute. As gospel singer Kirk Franklin delivered a spirited performance of his song "Love Theory," Biden remained fixed on the stage, with his demeanor described by some as resembling that of a zombie.
On social media, reactions poured in, with users expressing concern over Biden's apparent lack of engagement. Some attributed his demeanor to potential health issues, while others speculated about his understanding of the event's significance. Republican voices joined the chorus of criticism, with some likening Biden's behavior to being "under the effects of marijuana."

Despite the scrutiny, Biden proceeded with his address to the crowd, expressing pride in signing legislation declaring Juneteenth as a federal holiday for 2021. He also acknowledged the historic nature of the celebration, emphasizing that he had never witnessed anything quite like it at the White House before.
Amid the festivities, Biden was joined by Philonise Floyd, the brother of the late George Floyd, whose presence underscored the significance of the event commemorating the abolition of slavery. The two shared a moment of camaraderie, with Philonise wrapping his arm around Biden and exchanging a fist bump—a poignant symbol of solidarity and remembrance.
As the nation continues to grapple with issues of racial justice and equality, Biden's Juneteenth celebration appearance serves as a reminder of the ongoing dialogue surrounding leadership, representation, and the recognition of historical injustices.
