A well–known gastroenterologist from Fortis Vasant Kunj Hospital in Delhi, Dr. Shubham Vatsya, has shared a simple and helpful idea for people who want to lose weight in a healthy way. In a recent post, he explained that eating chia seeds or basil seeds as part of breakfast every day for 30 days can make a big difference in weight control and hunger levels.
Dr. Vatsya said that many people find it hard to manage their weight because they feel hungry again soon after breakfast. When hunger comes back quickly, they start eating snacks and more calories throughout the day. This makes weight loss more difficult. But chia and basil seeds can help change this.
These seeds are rich in fiber, which helps you feel full for a longer time. When you feel full, you are less likely to overeat later in the day. They also contain probiotics, which help support good digestion and a healthy gut. A healthy gut makes it easier for the body to manage weight and absorb nutrients in a better way.
Dr. Vatsya shared that chia seeds, in particular, help reduce the total number of calories a person eats in a day. They help control appetite and stop unnecessary snacking. He suggested that people should try eating these seeds in the morning for 30 days to see the results for themselves.
One simple way to eat them is to soak 1–2 spoons of chia or basil seeds in water overnight and drink the mixture in the morning. They can also be added to yogurt, fruit bowls, smoothies, coconut water, or warm lemon water. The idea is to take them in a form that suits your daily routine.
Dr. Vatsya explained that breakfast is the first meal of the day and plays an important role in setting the body’s energy level and metabolism. A healthy breakfast can help the body burn calories better and stay active through the day. On the other hand, unhealthy breakfast choices like sugary cereals, fried snacks, or processed foods can increase hunger and fat storage.
This advice is simple and easy to follow. It does not require expensive foods or strict dieting. It only requires a small daily habit — adding seeds to your breakfast and drinking enough water, because these seeds absorb water and expand in the stomach.
Experts also say that along with this habit, a balanced diet, light exercise like walking, enough sleep, and less stress can support better weight loss results.
This suggestion is useful for students, office workers, homemakers, and older adults because it is gentle on the stomach, natural, and does not involve harsh dieting.
