The Arab Media Award shows the dream of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid to make Dubai a top place for Arab media. It is also a way to celebrate the best and most creative work in this important field.
Today, His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is the President of the UAE Olympic Committee, and Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, attended the 24th Arab Media Award ceremony.
The event was organized by the Dubai Press Club, which manages the Award. It happened on the second day of the Arab Media Summit. The ceremony was under the support of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. It was also guided by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council.

The ceremony took place at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Many important people came, including His Excellency Dr. Nawaf Salam, the Prime Minister of Lebanon. Editors-in-chief, senior leaders of big media groups from the UAE and other Arab countries, famous writers, and important figures from Arab media also attended.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum spoke at the event. He said the Arab Media Award shows Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid’s vision to make Dubai a main center for Arab media. He explained that the Award celebrates the best and most creative work in media. He also said that media is very important for growth and for helping people understand society better.
He added that the Award honors media professionals who have worked hard and done a great job. The winning entries show honesty, creativity, and responsibility. This Award shows the belief that good media helps keep national identity, encourages talking and understanding between people, and helps build a better future.
His Highness said Dubai will keep being a place that supports Arab media professionals and gives them a chance to be creative and excellent in their work.
During the ceremony, His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed and Her Excellency Mona Al Marri, who is the Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council and Chairperson of the Arab Media Award, gave the Media Personality of the Year award to Fakhri Karim. He is an Iraqi journalist and the Editor-in-Chief of the Al-Mada Foundation for Media, Culture and Arts. He was honored for his great work in Arab journalism and his help in improving journalism in Iraq.
Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed and Her Excellency Mona Al Marri gave the Best Columnist award to Suleiman Gouda, a famous Egyptian journalist from Al-Masry Al-Youm. He was recognized for his fair and thoughtful comments on current events, which have helped improve Arab journalism.
This year, nine winners were honored in different categories of the Arab Media Award. Since the Award started, a total of 361 individuals and organizations have been recognized.
Winners in the TV category included:
Best Economic Programme: “Business with Lobna” on Sky News Arabia, accepted by host Lobna Bouza.
Best Social Programme: “Sabah Al Arabiya” on Al Arabiya, accepted by host Reem Bsati.
Best Cultural Programme: “Sahibat Al Saada” on DMC, accepted by host Esaad Younes.
Best Sports Programme: “Counter Attack” on Sky News Arabia, accepted by host Moosa Al Baloushi.
Best Documentary: “Under the Rubble” on Al Sharq Documentary, accepted by Director General Mohamed Al Youssi.
In the Arab Journalism category, His Excellency Abdulla Al Hamed, Chairman of the National Media Office, and Dr. Maitha Buhumaid, Secretary General of the Arab Media Award, presented the awards:
Political Journalism: Mohamed Eissa from Al Ahram Al Arabi magazine won for his article “Drones… the Looming Threat.”
Investigative Journalism: Sameh El Laboudy from Asharq Al-Awsat won for his story “The Final Voyage of the Notorious Salt Boat.”
Economic Journalism: El Sayed Zeidah and Mohamed Salman from Youm7 were honored for their report “The Cryptocurrency Maze Begins with a Like.”
At the end of the event, His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed took a group photo with all the winners.
Her Excellency Mona Al Marri congratulated all the winners. She said the Arab Media Award shows Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s vision to make Dubai an important center for Arab media. She explained that this Award sets a high standard for media work in the region.
She added that this year’s winners are a group of talented people and organizations who made important contributions to Arab media. Their work shows strong commitment to high-quality journalism and important media values. Since the Award started, it has helped the media sector improve and encouraged healthy competition.
The Arab Media Award continues to highlight the best work and high standards in a changing media world. Organized by the Dubai Press Club, it is the top award for Arab media, celebrating journalism that is creative, useful, and meets the needs of the Arab region. This year, the Award received more than 2,900 entries from all over the Arab world.
