Abu Dhabi has announced a big and exciting new plan to grow its economy by building a complete car-making industry. The Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) shared this plan during the "Make it in the Emirates Forum 2025". The goal is to make Abu Dhabi the top place in the region for smart car manufacturing, research and design, fixing up old luxury cars, holding auctions, and organizing big car events.
This new programme is backed by large investments from top car companies around the world. It is expected to add AED 100 billion to Abu Dhabi’s economy by 2045. It will also bring in more than AED 8 billion in foreign investments and create 7,000 skilled jobs for engineers, designers, and other workers.

The programme will include everything needed to make and sell cars. This means designing cars, building them, testing them, selling them, and offering services after the sale. Top global car brands and important suppliers will be part of the plan, ensuring that the whole car-making process happens in Abu Dhabi. There will also be many events like car shows, racing activities, product launches, and auctions for rare and luxury vehicles.
One of the most special parts of the plan is how it helps students and young people. ADIO has started the first-ever Automotive AI Curriculum in the region. This course, made with top universities, will teach students how to design cars using artificial intelligence. It will also give them a chance to do research and training and even travel abroad to learn from other countries. This helps local talent become part of the global car industry.
His Excellency Badr Al-Olama, Director General of ADIO, said that this car programme is a big step in making Abu Dhabi a strong economy and a global leader in building advanced cars. He said it shows that Abu Dhabi is not just a good place for business but a center where new ideas, talent, and technology come together to shape the future.
Mohammad Ali Al Kamali, who is ADIO’s Chief Industry and Trade Officer, added that this plan is about more than just making cars. It’s about building a complete car ecosystem, where companies from around the world come to work together, share ideas, and grow their businesses from Abu Dhabi.
During the MIITE Forum, more than ten new business and investment deals were announced as part of this car programme. Big car companies like Genesis and ROX Motors made new agreements with W Motors to start building cars in Abu Dhabi. These deals will help Abu Dhabi become a key place for making and exporting cars.
Also, AIH Group, one of the world’s biggest companies for putting cars together, will now help lead Abu Dhabi’s car production, making large numbers of vehicles in the city.
The plan also includes strong partnerships with local companies to support car making. For example:
Borouge will supply lightweight materials.
Enercap will provide battery systems.
APT (Automotive Precision Technology) will offer aluminium car parts.
Together, these companies will create a full car-making system that covers everything from materials to the final product.
This new plan is a big move towards the future of cars in Abu Dhabi. It brings together advanced technology, smart design, green transportation, and global business. By bringing in the best talent, smart ideas, and strong supply chains, Abu Dhabi is setting a new standard for the car industry in the Middle East and around the world.
