In a tragic turn of events, a 19-year-old man named Prathamesh Bhokse met his untimely demise after consuming a 'chicken shawarma' purchased from a stall in Mumbai. The unfortunate incident unfolded on May 3 in the Trombay area, where Bhokse acquired the food item from the vendors now identified as Anand Kamble and Ahmed Sheikh.
On May 4, Bhokse began experiencing severe stomach pain and vomiting, prompting him to seek medical assistance at a nearby municipal hospital. However, his symptoms persisted, leading his concerned family members to rush him to KEM Hospital, operated by the civic authorities, on May 5.
During his initial visit to KEM Hospital, Bhokse received treatment from a doctor before being discharged. However, his health deteriorated further the following day, compelling his family to once again seek medical attention. This time, upon examination, doctors deemed it necessary to admit him for further evaluation and care.

As Bhokse's condition continued to worsen, the hospital authorities decided to involve law enforcement. Consequently, an FIR was lodged against unidentified individuals under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 336 (endangering life or personal safety of others) and 273 (sale of noxious food or drink).
Despite medical efforts, Bhokse's health did not improve, and tragically, he succumbed to his condition on Monday. In response to the situation, the police apprehended the two food vendors, Anand Kamble and Ahmed Sheikh, and charged them with various IPC sections, including 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder). The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of food safety and the severe consequences of negligence in the provision of consumables.
