UAE-Kuwait Bust: 14 Million Captagon Pills Seized in Major Raid

Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Chairman of the National Anti-Narcotics Agency (NANA), praised the strong coordination between Dubai Police and Kuwaiti anti-narcotics authorities after a major operation that dismantled an international drug trafficking network. The operation led to the seizure of over 14 million Captagon pills.

He said the success highlights the strong fraternal ties between the UAE and Kuwait and reflects effective intelligence sharing and operational integration between both countries’ authorities. Such collaboration, he added, strengthens regional security and curbs cross-border drug trafficking.

In a well-planned operation, Dubai Police, in coordination with Kuwaiti counterparts, uncovered a sophisticated smuggling attempt. The traffickers had hidden millions of Captagon pills inside sacks of corn, distributed across five containers, to evade inspections.

Through detailed intelligence analysis and continuous information sharing, authorities tracked the shipment and monitored the suspects’ movements. Specialised teams intervened at the right moment, apprehending three suspects while they were unloading the drugs.

The operation resulted in the confiscation of 2.25 tonnes of Captagon tablets, totaling 14,062,500 pills. Dubai Police confirmed that this seizure is among the largest targeting organised drug networks and reflects the efficiency of combining intelligence with rapid field response, advanced technology, and trained personnel.

Authorities reaffirmed that combating narcotics is a top priority due to the threat to public safety and social stability. Sheikh Zayed expressed his gratitude to officers in both countries for their vigilance and dedication, emphasizing the importance of ongoing intelligence and operational cooperation to protect communities from drug-related dangers.
