On April 15, 2026, the Vietnamese Government released new policies targeting budget allocation and socio-economic growth, particularly in rural and underserved areas.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang's decision outlines foundational principles guiding the allocation of central government budget resources from 2026 to 2030, with an emphasis on sustainable poverty alleviation and rural advancement.
The policy prioritizes significant financial backing for disadvantaged communes, ethnic minority territories, mountainous regions, border areas, and coastal islands, aiming to foster uniform socio-economic progress and enhance living conditions in these communities.
This framework guarantees focused, efficient, and sustainable budget allocations, ensuring harmonious management across policies, objectives, and funding mechanisms at national and local levels.
The central government’s financial aid will primarily benefit localities with a heavy reliance on national budget support, especially those sourcing over 70% of their funding from central allocations. Conversely, financially robust regions are to manage their resources independently.
Additionally, the policy delineates specific criteria for fund distribution based on the presence of disadvantaged villages and communes, as well as priority rankings influenced by local financial dependence. This organized strategy aims to guarantee equitable and efficient resource dispersion.
Local governing bodies are also mandated to allocate their own funding and seek additional resources to effectively carry out development initiatives, ensuring alignment with national objectives without redundancy.
On a separate note, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung validated the election outcomes for critical leadership roles in Hung Yen province, appointing Nguyen Manh Quyen as Chairman and confirming several Vice Chairpersons for the term spanning 2026 to 2031.
In summary, these guidelines underscore Vietnam’s dedication to enhancing governance, fostering inclusive growth, and propelling rural and regional development in the coming years.
