A vehicle pursuit involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Newark on February 25 ended in a serious multi-vehicle crash, leaving four people hospitalized, including three minors.

According to preliminary reports, the incident began when ICE agents were attempting to apprehend an individual, leading to a vehicle chase through city streets. The pursuit ultimately resulted in a collision involving multiple vehicles. Emergency responders arrived swiftly at the scene and transported four injured individuals to nearby hospitals for treatment. The extent of their injuries has not yet been disclosed, but authorities confirmed that three of those hospitalized are minors.

Newark Mayor Ras Baraka criticized federal authorities following the crash, calling for stricter adherence to local vehicle pursuit policies. He urged federal agencies operating within the city to follow Newark’s established pursuit laws and to exercise greater caution to ensure public safety.

As of now, officials have not released additional details regarding the circumstances leading to the pursuit, the identity of the suspect, or the condition of those injured. The incident remains under investigation.
