US Halts Bomb Shipment to Israel Amid Rafah Attack Worries

The United States made a significant decision last week, suspending a shipment of bombs to Israel due to unresolved concerns regarding Israel's intended incursion into the southern Gaza city of Rafah. A high-ranking official within President Joe Biden's administration, speaking on condition of anonymity, disclosed that the shipment, comprising 1,800 2,000-lb (907 kg) bombs and 1,700 500-lb (226 kg) bombs, had been put on hold pending further evaluation.

The decision came amidst escalating tensions as Israel appeared poised to undertake a major ground operation in Rafah, a move vehemently opposed by Washington.
