UAE-China Trade Soars: $16.75B, EV Exports Surge 273%

The United Arab Emirates strengthened its trade ties with China’s Zhejiang province, with bilateral trade reaching $16.75 billion in 2024. The growth continued in the first half of 2025, rising 19.8% year-on-year to $9.34 billion, reflecting strong economic cooperation between the two regions.

UAE Consul-General in Shanghai, Muhannad Sulaiman Al Naqbi, highlighted that exports of electric vehicles from Zhejiang’s Ningbo port to the UAE surged nearly 273% in the first half of 2025, making the UAE the top export market for EVs from the port.

Al Naqbi also noted that the UAE remains an attractive destination for Zhejiang companies. CHNT Group, for example, established a photovoltaic supply chain in the country to serve regional markets. He emphasized that the UAE’s open economic policies, talent acquisition, and significant investments in the digital economy make it the most competitive economy in the Middle East.

Currently, the UAE hosts over 16,500 Chinese trade licenses and about 350,000 Chinese residents, further strengthening bilateral ties. The growing trade relationship underscores the UAE’s role as a key partner for Zhejiang firms and highlights opportunities for future investment and collaboration in technology, energy, and digital sectors.
