UAE Introduces New Visa Categories & Regulations

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) has announced significant updates to the UAE’s entry visa regulations, including the launch of new visa categories and amendments to existing permits.

Four new visit visa categories have been introduced for specialists in artificial intelligence, entertainment, events, cruise ships, and leisure boats. These visas aim to attract global talent and support the UAE’s growing industries.

A humanitarian residence permit has also been established, valid for one year and extendable based on ICP approval under specific conditions. In addition, a residence permit for foreign widows or divorcees is now available for one year, with the possibility of renewal for a similar period under defined conditions.

The updated rules also include a visit visa for friends or relatives, allowing sponsorship of individuals up to the third degree, contingent on the sponsor’s income.

For business visitors, the business exploration visa requires financial solvency to establish a company, ownership of a share in an existing company outside the UAE, or proven professional practice. Meanwhile, the truck driver visa mandates a local sponsor along with health and financial guarantees.

The ICP regulations provide detailed schedules outlining the authorised duration of stay for each visa type and the conditions for extension, ensuring clarity for applicants and sponsors.

Officials said the updates reflect the UAE’s commitment to facilitating safe and structured entry for professionals, tourists, and residents while supporting economic growth and humanitarian initiatives.
