UAE-Thailand Hold First Consular Talks to Strengthen Ties

Abu Dhabi witnessed a historic step in UAE-Thailand relations as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted the first round of consular consultations between the two nations. The high-level meeting, held at the ministry’s headquarters, brought together senior officials to enhance cooperation in consular affairs and people-to-people exchanges.

The UAE delegation was led by Faisal Eissa Lutfi, Assistant Undersecretary for Consular Affairs, while Thailand was represented by Mongkol Pratumkaew, Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs. Also present was Nipa Nirannoot, Consul General of Thailand in Dubai.

Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation

Opening the meeting, Lutfi highlighted the long-standing friendship between the UAE and Thailand, emphasizing mutual respect and a shared commitment to collaboration across multiple sectors. The discussions focused on improving consular services, streamlining travel procedures, and safeguarding the welfare of citizens abroad.

Officials explored mechanisms to make consular transactions more efficient and responsive, reflecting both countries’ commitment to delivering high-quality support to residents and travelers.

Beyond administrative matters, the consultations underscored the importance of cultural and human exchanges. Thailand remains a popular destination for Emirati travelers, while the Thai community in the UAE contributes significantly to various sectors, acting as a bridge between the two countries.
