The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has strongly condemned Israel's recent attack on Hamas leaders in Doha, Qatar. The UAE also reaffirmed its full support for any measures Qatar takes to protect its sovereignty and ensure the safety of its people. This condemnation came during an emergency session of the United Nations (UN) Security Council held on Thursday, where countries discussed the regional consequences of Israel's actions.

UAE’s Strong Statement at the UN Security Council

Dr. Anwar Gargash, the Diplomatic Advisor to the UAE President, addressed the emergency session of the UN Security Council. In his speech, he criticized the Council for its “continued failure” to take effective action against Israel’s repeated violations of the UN Charter. He highlighted that Israel's actions have severe consequences not only for the immediate region but also for global peace and stability.

Gargash stated that these violations are undermining the rule of international law and putting the safety of sovereign nations at risk. He warned that such attacks would delay efforts to end the ongoing war in Gaza and make the region more unstable.

Impact on Peace Efforts in Gaza

The UAE official emphasized that Israel’s attack on Hamas leaders in Doha could make it more difficult to achieve peace in Gaza. Qatar, Egypt, and the United States have been actively involved in negotiations to secure a ceasefire, release hostages, and resume humanitarian aid to the region. According to Gargash, the recent attack threatens these delicate efforts and could prolong the suffering of civilians in Gaza.

He also noted that the international community must recognize the negative consequences of such attacks. The UAE believes that a peaceful solution is possible, but only if all countries respect international law and work together to support diplomatic solutions.

Israel’s Actions Called “Reckless and Belligerent”

Dr. Gargash described Israel’s attacks as “reckless and belligerent.” He warned that Israel’s threats to annex land and its attacks on neighboring countries are undermining efforts for peace and stability in the region. He stressed that these aggressive actions put not just the Middle East but also global security at risk.

The UAE urged Israel to reconsider its strategies and avoid actions that escalate tensions. According to Gargash, respecting the sovereignty of other nations is crucial for regional harmony and long-term peace.

UAE’s Support for Qatar

In his address, Gargash reiterated that the UAE stands fully with Qatar. He highlighted the recent visit of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Doha, which occurred shortly after Israel’s attack. The visit symbolized the UAE’s solidarity with Qatar and its commitment to supporting the country’s sovereignty.

The UAE emphasized that countries should respect each other’s borders and sovereignty. Any attacks on a sovereign nation are unacceptable and threaten regional and international stability.

Calls for Global Cooperation

Gargash urged all nations to work together to restore peace and security in the region. He emphasized the importance of international law and collective action to address violations. According to him, countries must prioritize diplomacy over aggression and support humanitarian efforts to help civilians affected by the conflict.

He also called on the international community to hold violators accountable and ensure that similar incidents do not happen in the future. According to the UAE, a unified global response is essential to achieving long-term peace in the Middle East.

Emergency UN Session

The emergency session of the UN Security Council was called by South Korea. Several countries participated in the discussions, including Qatar, Jordan, Turkey, the United States, and Israel. The session provided a platform for countries to express their views on Israel’s recent attack and discuss possible measures to prevent further escalation.

During the session, UAE officials highlighted the urgent need for international cooperation and the protection of national sovereignty. They also stressed that the world cannot afford to ignore violations of the UN Charter, as these actions have far-reaching consequences for regional and global security.

Regional Stability at Risk

Dr. Gargash warned that Israel’s actions are not just a concern for Qatar or Gaza but for the entire Middle East region. He explained that any aggressive move could destabilize neighboring countries and derail ongoing peace efforts.

He also mentioned that the threats of land annexation and attacks on neighboring countries are making diplomatic efforts extremely challenging. The UAE believes that only through dialogue and respect for international law can lasting peace be achieved.

Humanitarian Concerns

The UAE also expressed deep concern over the humanitarian impact of the conflict. The attack on Hamas leaders in Doha could delay the delivery of essential aid to civilians in Gaza, according to Dr. Gargash. Qatar, Egypt, and the United States have been working tirelessly to provide humanitarian assistance and support to the affected population.

The UAE urged Israel and all parties involved to prioritize the safety of civilians and allow humanitarian aid to reach those in need. Protecting human lives should be the highest priority, and any action that obstructs aid delivery is unacceptable.

The Importance of International Law

A key point in Dr. Gargash’s speech was the centrality of international law. He emphasized that respecting the sovereignty of states and adhering to the principles of the UN Charter are essential for maintaining peace and stability.

The UAE called on all countries to uphold these principles and work together to prevent further violations. According to Gargash, failure to act against aggressors encourages further reckless behavior, putting global peace at risk.

The UAE has made it clear that it fully supports Qatar in response to Israel’s attack on Hamas leaders in Doha. The UAE condemned the attack, called for global cooperation, and emphasized the importance of international law and respect for sovereignty.

The emergency session of the UN Security Council highlighted the urgent need for diplomatic solutions and humanitarian support. Countries like Qatar, Egypt, and the United States continue their efforts to secure a ceasefire, release hostages, and provide aid to those affected by the conflict.

The UAE’s firm stance demonstrates its commitment to regional stability, peace, and international cooperation. By standing with Qatar and calling on the international community to act, the UAE has sent a strong message that aggression and violations of sovereignty cannot be tolerated.
