UAE female athletes brought pride and glory to the nation after winning six medals at the first-ever International Portuguese Special Olympics Summer Games, which were held in the coastal city of Aveiro over three exciting days of competition.

This major sports event welcomed more than 300 female athletes from eight different countries. Alongside the host nation Portugal, participants came from the UAE, Spain, Italy, Malta, Monaco, Romania, and Andorra. The games created a stage where athletes with special abilities could showcase their dedication, talent, and hard work in front of international audiences.

UAE’s Achievement

The UAE delegation gave an outstanding performance in the rhythmic gymnastics category. Their medal collection included:

* 1 Gold Medal

* 3 Silver Medals

* 2 Bronze Medals

These victories came in the hoop and ball routines, where the athletes combined discipline, creativity, and passion to impress the judges. The performances were described as graceful yet powerful, reflecting hours of practice and unwavering determination.

A Global Sporting Spirit

The International Portuguese Special Olympics Summer Games were more than just a contest. They were a celebration of inclusion, diversity, and sportsmanship. Female athletes from across Europe and the Middle East came together not only to compete but also to share experiences, learn from one another, and build friendships that cross borders.

The competition gave athletes an opportunity to prove that sports have no limits when it comes to ability. The atmosphere in Aveiro was electric, filled with cheers, encouragement, and applause for every performance — regardless of whether an athlete won a medal or not.

Sports officials and supporters of the Special Olympics movement have praised the UAE athletes for their spirit and commitment. Their success in Portugal is being seen as a sign of even greater achievements in the future, as the country continues to support athletes of all abilities in reaching their dreams.

Looking Ahead

The experience in Portugal has not only added medals to the athletes’ collections but has also built their confidence for upcoming competitions. The UAE delegation now looks forward to more international tournaments where they can continue to shine and bring pride to their homeland.

The International Portuguese Special Olympics Summer Games are expected to grow in the coming years, giving even more opportunities for athletes worldwide to come together and celebrate the power of sports.
