Sharjah Heritage Institute Joins Cairo Book Fair 2026

The Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH) is participating in the 57th Cairo International Book Fair, taking place from 21 January to 3 February 2026 at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre in New Cairo. The event features wide participation from government bodies and Arab and international publishers.

Dr Abdulaziz Al Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, said the Institute is committed to maintaining a strong and continuous presence at the Cairo International Book Fair, one of the largest cultural events in the Middle East, attracting nearly two million visitors each year.

He explained that SIH’s participation reflects its mission to preserve tangible and intangible cultural heritage, link heritage with modern life, and promote it through research, publications, and cultural initiatives. The Institute regularly organises and takes part in heritage exhibitions, festivals, and events at both local and international levels.

Dr Al Musallam highlighted that SIH has made major contributions to enriching the heritage sector by supporting researchers, encouraging heritage studies, and strengthening Emirati and Arab libraries with specialised books, journals, and periodicals.

He also stressed that the Government of Sharjah places great importance on books, knowledge industries, and reading culture, following the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

At the fair, the Sharjah Institute for Heritage pavilion is showcasing more than 1,000 publications covering various aspects of cultural heritage. These publications aim to raise awareness and preserve heritage knowledge.

The Institute is also presenting a cultural programme that includes panel discussions on:

• Shared Emirati and Egyptian cultural heritage

• The role and challenges of heritage books

• Egyptian heritage in SIH publications

• Specialised institutional publishing and its future

The programme further includes heritage reading sessions, organised in cooperation with the Book Club, along with book-signing events for newly released titles.
