Sheikh Mohammed Meets Finland's PM to Strengthen UAE-Finland Ties

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, met today with the Prime Minister of Finland, His Excellency Petteri Orpo. The meeting took place at Za’abeel Palace in Dubai and focused on finding new ways for the two countries to work together in important areas to achieve common goals.

His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance of the UAE, also attended the meeting. Sheikh Mohammed spoke about the strong relationship between the UAE and Finland, which has lasted for 50 years. He shared the UAE’s eagerness to make these ties stronger by exploring new areas for partnership in key industries.

The meeting was also attended by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, along with His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group.

Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the UAE’s interest in working closely with Finland in fields like education, healthcare, green economy, technology, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, space, and communication. He said it is important to create opportunities for private companies in both countries to grow and find new ways to work together.

Sheikh Mohammed assured Finnish companies operating in the UAE that they will receive full support to expand their presence and succeed in the region. He also encouraged more businesses from Finland to consider the UAE as a base for their operations.

Prime Minister Petteri Orpo shared Finland’s desire to grow its partnership with the UAE, which is Finland’s main trading partner in the Gulf region. He praised the UAE’s impressive progress and its positive contributions to the region and the world, especially in providing humanitarian aid and supporting development. He wished the UAE continued success and prosperity.

The discussions also covered the advantages the UAE offers to businesses and investors, such as its advanced infrastructure, supportive laws, and economic benefits. These factors have made the UAE a top choice for industries like tourism, trade, finance, and logistics.

Both leaders shared their views on global and regional issues, focusing on working together to support peace and stability.

Other officials present at the meeting included Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs; Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy; Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Director General of HH The Dubai Ruler's Court; and Amna Mahmoud Fikri, UAE Ambassador to Finland.
