Sheikh Mohammed Establishes Dubai Council for City Development

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, has announced the formation of the Dubai Council, a significant move aimed at steering the emirate's future trajectory. With a clear mandate to enhance global competitiveness, elevate the quality of life for citizens, residents, and visitors, and oversee major development endeavors, the council emerges as a pivotal entity in Dubai's governance framework.

As per the report from the state news agency Wam, the decree formalizing the establishment of the Dubai Council will soon be published in the Official Gazette. Under the leadership of Sheikh Mohammed, the council will bring together key stakeholders to strategize and execute initiatives vital for Dubai's sustained growth and prosperity.

Joining Sheikh Mohammed in steering the council are prominent figures including Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, the Crown Prince of Dubai, appointed as the first vice chairman, and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, serving as the second vice chairman. Additionally, notable individuals such as Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed, and Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed have been named as council members, reflecting a diverse range of expertise and perspectives.

Mohammed Al Gergawi, the Minister of Cabinet Affairs and chairman of the World Governments Summit, has been entrusted with the role of secretary-general, tasked with coordinating the council's activities and ensuring effective implementation of its objectives. Other distinguished personalities, including Talal Belhoul, Abdulla Al Basti, Abdullah Al Marri, Mattar Al Tayer, Saeed Al Tayer, and Helal Al Marri, will also contribute their insights and expertise to the council's endeavors.

The establishment of the Dubai Council comes at a pivotal moment for the emirate, which has consistently demonstrated its appeal as a leading global destination for tourism, business, and innovation. Dubai's robust tourism performance, coupled with its reputation as an attractive place to live and work, underscores its resilience and attractiveness on the international stage.

Moreover, Dubai's commitment to infrastructure development remains unwavering, as evidenced by the recent approval of designs for a new passenger terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport. This strategic investment aligns with Dubai's vision to accommodate the growing demand for travel and position itself as a premier aviation hub on the global map.
