UAE, EU Leaders Call for Sustained Gaza Ceasefire and Stronger Ties

Abu Dhabi: President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and European Council President António Costa held wide-ranging talks in Abu Dhabi, focusing on the Gaza ceasefire, regional peace, and deepening UAE-EU cooperation.

Meeting at Qasr Al Shati during Costa’s working visit to the UAE, both leaders emphasised the urgent need to maintain the ceasefire in Gaza to allow uninterrupted humanitarian aid and support efforts for long-term stability in the region.

They agreed that intensifying international cooperation remains key to ensuring a just and lasting peace in the Occupied Palestinian territory, highlighting diplomacy and dialogue as the only path forward to end crises and promote security.

Beyond regional issues, the discussions also touched on ongoing negotiations for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the UAE and the European Union. The leaders noted that the agreement would mark a major milestone in strengthening economic relations, opening new opportunities for investment, trade, and shared development goals.

Costa’s visit reflects growing momentum in UAE-EU engagement across political, economic, and humanitarian fronts, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to building a future based on cooperation and mutual respect.
