When he arrived, His Highness was greeted by Sheikha Hoor bint Sultan Al Qasimi, who is the president of the University of Global Studies, and other important people like Sheikha Nawar bint Ahmed Al Qasimi, Director of the Sharjah Art Foundation, and Dr. Mansour bin Mohammed bin Nassar, Chairman of the Legal Department of the Government of Sharjah. Many other university officials and academics were also there.

His Highness spoke about the university’s goals and the creation of a special program called the Global African Studies Program. This program has started with both male and female students. The University of Global Studies is meant to help people understand different parts of the world and share knowledge.

Dr. Mansour bin Mohammed explained that an important rule, called Emiri Decree No. (57) of 2023, made the University of Global Studies official. This rule allows the university to work freely and set its own goals. It also gave Sheikha Hoor the role of being the head of the university. The university will have different areas of study, like African studies, Asian studies, and European studies.

Sheikha Hoor also shared the news that a group of very smart people will be on the university's board to help guide it. Some of these people are from famous universities in the United States, like Princeton University and New York University. They will help the university grow and succeed.

In her speech, Sheikha Hoor also talked about how Sharjah’s vision for cultural and educational growth is important. She mentioned how this university is connected to earlier projects, like the Africa Hall, which has hosted important talks about the relationship between Arab countries and Africa.

Sheikha Hoor welcomed the first group of students from all over the world to the Global African Studies Program. She encouraged them to learn and be inspired by the great history of Sharjah.

Dr. Salah Mohamed Hassan, who is the Chancellor of the university, thanked His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah for supporting the university. He talked about how the university wants to make a difference by studying important global topics, especially Africa. The university wants to teach students how to think critically and make the world a better place.

At the end of the ceremony, His Highness took a photo with the first group of students. He wished them the best of luck and success. The students were grateful for the opportunity and thanked the ruler for making it possible for them to study at this new and exciting university.
