Sharjah Ruler Issues Comprehensive Law Regulating SNQSE Operations

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has recently issued Law No. (4) of 2024, which introduces amendments to Law No. (2) of 2018 concerning the regulation of the Sharjah Noble Quran and Sunnah Establishment (SNQSE).

The revised law specifically modifies Clause No. (5) of Article No. (5) of Law No. (2) of 2018. This amendment now focuses on the regulation of permits for establishing private centers dedicated to the memorization of the Holy Quran and the Sunnah. It sets forth stringent controls and conditions for the operation of these centers and emphasizes the necessity for supervision and coordination with relevant authorities in accordance with existing legislation.

Furthermore, Law No. (4) of 2024 introduces a new provision, Article No. (13), to Law No. (2) of 2018. This article grants specific powers to designated employees of the institution. These employees, appointed by a decision from the Minister of Justice under Article (35) of Federal Decree Law No. (38) of 2022 on criminal procedures, are vested with the authority of judicial officers. They are empowered to investigate violations of the law and other regulations related to the SNQSE within their respective jurisdictions.

This legislative update underscores the commitment of Sharjah's leadership to enhance oversight and regulation within the SNQSE. It aims to ensure compliance with legal frameworks while reinforcing the institution's pivotal role in promoting Quranic education and Sunnah practices in Sharjah and beyond.
