Youth Hospitalized After Dog Attack in Nova Scotia

In a startling incident in Welshtown, Nova Scotia, a youth suffered critical injuries due to an attack by three large dogs this past Saturday evening.

Reports from the Shelburne District RCMP indicate that emergency responders were summoned around 5 p.m. to the 100 block of Upper Sandy Cove Road following alarming reports of a dog attack. Upon their arrival, authorities learned that the youth was cycling when the dogs broke free from a nearby property and launched an attack.

Given the extent of the injuries, officials called for an air ambulance. The young victim was airlifted by LifeFlight helicopter to a Halifax hospital for urgent and specialized treatment, as initial assessments indicated that the injuries were life-threatening.

Following the incident, the involved dogs were subsequently euthanized by a veterinarian to prevent further risk to the public. Details regarding the specific breeds of the dogs, the age of the victim, and the property owner's identity have yet to be disclosed.
