Russia claims village win near Ukraine border

Russia said on Saturday that its army has taken back a village near the border, called Oleshnya, from Ukrainian soldiers. This village is in the Kursk region, which touches the line between Russia and Ukraine.

The Russian army said the North army group pushed out Ukrainian fighters during heavy fighting. They say the village is now under full Russian control. Ukraine has not yet said anything about this.

Russian says that battles are still going on in another village called Gornal, which is about 11 kilometers south of Oleshnya. Russian forces are trying to push Ukrainian troops out of Gornal too. They want to take the whole Kursk area back.

Last year, Ukraine surprised Russia by sending soldiers into this region. That gave Ukraine a strong point in Russia. Now, Russia says it is taking back that ground.

Also, Ukraine said Russia sent 87 attack drones during the night. Ukraine said it shot down 33 drones, and about 36 drones failed because of radio blocking. Some drones hit farm lands in Odesa, and fires started in the Sumy region, but no one was hurt.

Russia also said it stopped two Ukrainian drones that came during the night.

The war is still strong in the border area, and both sides are still fighting hard.
