Dubai: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has successfully completed a major infrastructure project, constructing 13 kilometres of new road connections across 18 residential areas in the emirate. The initiative is part of RTA’s ongoing efforts to support urban expansion and accommodate population growth.
The project goes beyond road construction, incorporating key traffic enhancements such as roadside parking, pedestrian pavements, and modern street lighting. These upgrades are designed to improve mobility, safety, and overall living standards for residents.
According to Hamad Al Shehhi, Director of Roads at RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency, the newly developed road links have significantly improved connectivity by paving previously unpaved routes. This has streamlined vehicle access to and from residential neighbourhoods.
He noted that the improvements have led to smoother traffic movement and reduced travel times by up to 40 percent in several locations, providing a safer and more efficient driving experience.
The project covered multiple residential areas, including Al Khawaneej 1, Al Barsha South 1, Nad Shamma, Jumeirah 1, Za’abeel 1, Al Rashidiya, Muhaisnah 1, Al Barsha 1, Al Hudaiba, Al Quoz 1 and 3, Al Satwa, Al Twar 1, Mirdif, Umm Ramool, Umm Suqeim 1, and Al Mizhar 1 and 2.
RTA emphasised that such developments align with its vision to become a global leader in seamless and sustainable mobility. The authority continues to implement rapid traffic solutions and infrastructure upgrades to boost road network efficiency and ensure a high-quality transport experience across Dubai.
