Former US President Donald Trump was injured during a shooting at an election rally in Pennsylvania's Butler, prompting swift responses and political fallout. Trump expressed gratitude to the Secret Service and law enforcement for their quick intervention but lamented the incident, calling it "incredible" for such an act to occur in the country. The shooting left one dead and two critically injured, with the assailant, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, killed at the scene after reportedly shooting Trump in the right ear.
Republican leaders, including potential vice presidential candidate JD Vance, criticized President Joe Biden's administration, alleging that rhetoric against Trump fueled the violence. Vance suggested Biden's portrayal of Trump as an authoritarian led directly to the assassination attempt. Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene accused Democrats of wanting Trump and his supporters dead, referencing comments allegedly made by Biden and legislative actions targeting Trump's security.

President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris condemned the shooting, emphasizing unity and denouncing political violence. Biden described the incident as sickening and called for national condemnation, stressing that such violence has no place in America. Harris expressed relief that Trump's injuries were not severe and called for solidarity against violence.
Meanwhile, Michael Whatley of the Republican National Committee assured Trump's well-being and affirmed his nomination for the upcoming election, pledging to continue Trump's vision to "Make America Great Again." The incident has reignited debates over political rhetoric and security measures in the ongoing election campaign.
