The Department of Economic Development (DED) in Ras Al Khaimah has shared an important report about how businesses are doing in the emirate. This report shows that during the first six months of 2025, businesses in Ras Al Khaimah have grown a lot. Many people are starting new businesses, and the money invested in these businesses is also rising.

Increase In Licensed Capital

The report says that the total licensed capital of all active business licences increased by 14.5% in the first half of 2025. Licensed capital means the total money businesses plan to invest when they get a licence. In Ras Al Khaimah, this amount has now reached AED10.2 billion. This is a very big amount and it shows that people have confidence in starting or running businesses in the emirate.

More Business Licences In Ras Al Khaimah

Apart from the money invested, the total number of active business licences has also grown. Compared to the first half of last year, there has been a 6% increase in the number of active licences. This means more shops, factories, offices, and services are opening or continuing their work in Ras Al Khaimah.

Which Licences Grew The Most?

The report also talks about which types of licences grew the most. It says:

  • Industrial licences grew by 14.3%. This means more factories and industries are opening in Ras Al Khaimah. Factories are important because they create jobs and produce products for the market.

  • Professional licences saw a growth of 6%. These licences are for services like doctors, engineers, designers, or any professional work.

  • Commercial licences grew by 5%. Commercial licences are needed for shops, trading companies, and businesses that sell products.

Why Is This Growth Happening?

Amina Qahtan, who is the Director of the Department of Commercial Affairs, explained why this growth is happening. She said that these results show the strong economic momentum in Ras Al Khaimah. Economic momentum means that the economy is moving forward strongly.

She added that this growth is because of the support from the wise leadership of Ras Al Khaimah. The leaders have taken many steps to make it easier for people to start businesses. They have made rules that are simple and helpful. Because of this, more people feel confident to invest their money here.

Increase In New Business Licences

Amina Qahtan also shared that in the first half of 2025, the number of new business licences issued increased by 17.6%. This means many people started new businesses this year.

When we look at different types of new licences, we see:

  • Industrial licences had the highest increase. They grew by 111%. This is more than double compared to last year. It shows that Ras Al Khaimah is becoming a good place for factories and industries.

  • Commercial licences increased by 12.6%. Many new shops and trading companies opened this year.

  • Professional licences rose by around 20%. This shows that many professionals are starting their own work or services.

Growth In New Licensed Capital

The report also talks about how much capital or money is being invested by these new businesses. The total licensed capital of new businesses in the first half of 2025 reached AED495 million. This is a 7.5% increase compared to the same period last year, when it was AED460 million.

This means that people are investing more money when they start a new business in Ras Al Khaimah. It also shows that the emirate is becoming a favourite place for business owners.

Details Of Capital Growth In Licences

When we look at different types of licences:

  • The capital for professional licences grew by 40%. Professionals like consultants, designers, engineers, and other skilled workers are investing more money in their businesses.

  • For industrial licences, the capital multiplied by 6.7 times. Last year, it was much lower, but this year it reached AED47.5 million. This huge jump shows that factories and industries are investing a lot in Ras Al Khaimah.

Supportive Environment For Businesses

Amina Qahtan said that all these positive changes are because of the facilitative measures taken by the government. Facilitative measures are steps that make things easy. For example, making it simple to get a business licence, providing land or buildings for factories, helping with loans, or making business rules clear.

These measures have helped business resilience. Resilience means being strong even during difficult times. Because of the support from the leadership, businesses in Ras Al Khaimah are becoming strong and are able to grow quickly.

Attracting More Investors

She also mentioned that Ras Al Khaimah is attracting more investors. Investors are people who put money into businesses. Because the emirate is safe, rules are easy, and leadership is supportive, investors from different places feel happy to invest their money here.

Why Is This Important For Students To Know?

For students like you, it is important to know how an economy grows. When more businesses open:

  • More jobs are created. People can work in factories, shops, offices, or as professionals.

  • More products and services are available in the market, making life better for everyone.

  • The government earns more revenue from businesses and can use it to build schools, hospitals, and roads.

  • Families can have better incomes, and children can get better education and facilities.

The first half of 2025 has been a strong period for Ras Al Khaimah’s economy. The increase in business licences and licensed capital shows that people trust the emirate to start their work. Industrial growth is the highest, showing that more factories are coming up. The leadership’s support and easy business rules have helped in this growth. If this continues, Ras Al Khaimah will become one of the top places for business and jobs in the UAE in the coming years.
