PM Modi Presents Silver Train Model and Pashmina Shawl Gifts to Joe and Jill Biden

Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented an exquisite antique silver train model to U.S. President Joe Biden during his three-day visit to the United States. The meeting took place in Wilmington, Delaware, ahead of the highly anticipated Quad Leaders' Summit. This custom-made gift, which features the inscriptions "DELHI-DELAWARE" on the sides of the main carriage and "INDIAN RAILWAYS" on the engine, reflects a blend of Indian heritage and craftsmanship, using both English and Hindi.

The train model was crafted by skilled artisans from Maharashtra, a state celebrated for its rich tradition of silver craftsmanship. Made of 92.5% silver, this piece is not just a gift but a symbol of India’s artistic legacy.

In addition to the train model, PM Modi also gifted First Lady Jill Biden a beautiful Kashmiri pashmina shawl, further enhancing the cultural exchange between the two nations.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi described his meeting with President Biden as "extremely fruitful." During their discussions, they explored ways to deepen bilateral cooperation across various sectors and addressed pressing global and regional issues, including the dynamics of the Indo-Pacific region.

Upon arriving at Biden's residence in Greenville, Delaware, PM Modi received a warm welcome. The two leaders embraced, and President Biden guided PM Modi into his home for their bilateral talks, showcasing the personal rapport between them. After the meeting, PM Modi took to social media to express his gratitude, stating, "I thank President Biden for hosting me. Our talks were extremely fruitful, allowing us to discuss regional and global issues."

President Biden echoed Modi's sentiments, highlighting the strength and dynamism of the U.S.-India partnership. He remarked that each meeting unveils new avenues for collaboration, stating, "Today was no different."

A joint statement released following the bilateral meeting characterized the India-U.S. partnership as a "defining partnership of the 21st century," emphasizing its commitment to serving global good through an ambitious agenda.
