Dawood Aide Mohammed Salim Deported From Dubai

In a major breakthrough, Mumbai Police have successfully deported Dawood Ibrahim’s close aide, Mohammed Salim, from Dubai. Salim had been on the run for years with a Red Corner Notice issued against him and was believed to be controlling a vast drug network operating across India and the Gulf region.

According to police sources, Salim’s name first surfaced last year after the seizure of 150 grams of mephedrone (MD) in Mumbai. What appeared to be a small drug bust soon expanded into one of Maharashtra’s largest synthetic drug investigations, revealing a ₹250-crore mephedrone manufacturing racket spread across Mumbai, Sangli, and international territories.

Investigations found that Salim was working under Dawood’s close associate, Salim Dola, who is now being hunted by Mumbai Police. Salim allegedly managed drug production and smuggling operations using multiple fronts, angadias, and hawala channels to launder profits from the trade.

Earlier this year, police had extradited another suspect, Mustafa Mohammad Kubbawala, from the UAE. Kubbawala was accused of supplying chemicals used in the manufacture of the party drug MD, which was being produced in large quantities at an illegal lab in Sangli district. The lab’s seizure became one of the largest synthetic drug hauls in Maharashtra’s history.

The case came to light in February last year when the crime branch arrested a woman, Parveen Sheikh, in Kurla with 641 grams of MD. Her interrogation led officers to uncover a larger chain involving handlers in Dubai — Salim Dola and Mohammed Salim Sheikh — and their Indian link, Sajid Mohammad Asif Sheikh alias Dabs, who was later arrested.

Further raids across Mira Road and other suburbs resulted in the recovery of another 3 kilograms of mephedrone, tightening the net around the syndicate.

With Salim’s deportation from Dubai, police say the network’s core has been effectively dismantled. The operation marks a significant success in Mumbai’s ongoing war against international drug trafficking networks tied to the underworld.
