Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Tuesday in Jeddah. They had important talks and led the second meeting of the India-Saudi Arabia Strategic Partnership Council. Even though Prime Minister Modi had to return to India early because of a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, the meeting was helpful for both countries. It brought India and Saudi Arabia closer as friends.

They spoke about many things like army work, oil and energy, money matters, and how to grow together in arts and tourism. The Saudi Prince said he was very sad about the people who died in the Kashmir attack. He gave his support to India and said he hopes for peace.
During the meeting, they agreed to start two new working groups. One will focus on defence and army matters. The other one will look after tourism and cultural exchange. With these two new groups, the Strategic Council now has four groups in total. The other two are already working on politics, safety, business, energy, and new technology.
The two countries also want to build two big oil factories in India. Both sides were happy about the progress made by a team that is helping to make business and tax matters easier. This will help bring more money and jobs in the future.
Modi had also planned to speak to Indian people living in Saudi Arabia and attend a big dinner hosted by the Saudi government. But because of the deadly attack in Pahalgam, where 16 people lost their lives and many were hurt, he cancelled those plans and returned to India to manage the situation.
Even though the visit was short, the talks showed that both India and Saudi Arabia want to work closely. They want to keep peace, grow together in business, and share their cultures.
