Ottawa Kicks Off Lansdowne 2.0 Redevelopment with Phase 1 Construction

Ottawa has officially commenced the Lansdowne 2.0 redevelopment, awarding the construction contract to EBC Inc., a key step in revitalizing a vital urban center.

After the council approved the construction plan on November 7, the city completed all legal and commercial assessments, confirmed insurance, and signed the construction contract. Tammy Rose, General Manager of Infrastructure, remarked, “The contract with EBC Inc. has been executed, and we’ve issued a Commence Work Order.”

Phase 1 of the redevelopment, kicking off on November 28, centers on building a new Event Centre. This phase involves removing berms, environmental cleanup, site services, updates to TD Place, constructing an underground loading area, ensuring accessible drop-off spots, and improvements in landscaping and signage around the Great Lawn.

City officials have assured that there will be no planned road closures or detours during Phase 1 and that TD Place will remain accessible to visitors throughout the construction process.

To keep the community updated, a robust communications campaign will accompany the project. Residents and local businesses will also be invited to a drop-in information session to discuss timelines, milestones, and mitigation strategies. The date for this session will be announced soon.

The Lansdowne 2.0 initiative signifies a decade-long investment in enhancing one of Ottawa’s key community areas, promising advanced infrastructure, better public facilities, and an enriched urban landscape.
