Kosovo Court Sentences Four Serbs for 2018 Killing of Politician

Known for his influential role in the Serb-majority north, Ivanovic was a vocal critic of Serbian influence within Kosovo's Serb minority population.

Previously, Ivanovic had faced charges of war crimes during the 1998-99 Kosovo conflict, but a conviction was overturned, leading to a retrial that was ongoing at the time of his assassination. His death reignited tensions in the region, which has been a focal point of ethnic division and political instability since Kosovo declared independence from Serbia in 2008.
