Katy Perry revealed her call name for the mission: "Feather-2." In a video, she showed the inside of the capsule where she and the other astronauts have been practicing. She was so happy that she even sang, “here are the new shepherd," to show how excited she was. Katy also said that she might sing in space, and this could be the first concert ever held in space!
Katy talked about how important this mission is to her. She said, “I’ve dreamt of going to space for 15 years, and tomorrow that dream comes true.” She also said that she’s excited to fly with five other amazing women: Gayle King, a journalist; Amanda Nguyen, a civil rights activist; Aisha Bowe, an aerospace engineer; Kerianne Flynn, a film producer; and Lauren Sanchez, who is engaged to Jeff Bezos, the founder of Blue Origin.
Katy expressed how much this means to her. She said, “I do believe this. I’m not going to say I can’t believe I’m here. I do believe this because I think that believing in your dreams is how you make them come true.”
This mission is very special because it shows that women can be just as successful in space as anyone else. Blue Origin is helping make space travel possible for more people.
